NY Fall Fashion Week Home Inspirations
Football season, pumpkin spice, and the smell and warmth of fire places. All things that kick off Fall. Along with, my personal favorite….New York Fashion Week. New York City sidewalks morph into a fashion runway show and all eyes are on New Yorkers and their visitors who rock the most coveted trends of the current season.
Now you may be thinking..who cares about fashion week?! Touché…The trends that come from fashion week offers home decor a guide to color palettes, cabinet trends, furniture direction and lighting design. Clothing trends that signal a western feel usher in a more farm house look. Clothing gets sleek, modern cuts and less layering; in ushers a clean, monochromatic color palette and sleek modern lighting. As much as we want to downplay high end couture fashion, it gives guidance to what we see in the coming months and years as a general consumer of goods. My favorite two trends for home decor this fall is the refresh of leopard and draped scarf coats/ throws. I will be touching on a few more over the coming months.
Leopard, leopard and more leopard! I love layering a leopard pillow on a solid sofa, adding a bit of elegance and sexiness to any simple white sofa, a moody dining room or leather chairs. The mixed textures adds dimension and spices up any space.
The draped throw has been around for so long but it is making a come back. Drape it over a chair, sofa and the corner of a bed. It will add dimension and warmth to your room, similar to a scarf coat over some sleek leather pants and a body suit.
Here’s to fall. Enjoy!
